The Yeard Challenge – Let’s do this
It might be a good idea to start off by telling all you what a Yeard is. I know some of you will know this but we need to cater to everyone. A Yeard is simply growing a Beard for a Year. The most pure of Yeards will mean that not one hair will be trimmed during that time. But you can chose to undertake the Yeard however you want.
I’m looking forward to undertaking this Yeard journey so here is what we are going to do. I’m going to start from absolutely nothing so I will be going completely clean shaven for the first time in quite some time. I’m setting some basic rules: I can maintain the cheekline, I can fade in the sideburns to my haircut and if needed, I can shape the hair on the neck/sideburns to stop the beard growing out to wide and wild like. The Moustache can be trimmed only in the centre or to remove damaged hairs at its ends.
From whichever day I shave the current beard that day will become Day Zero. Day 1 will then be used to calculate the same day that in a Year’s time will become the official end of the yeard.
With this Yeard journey we thought it would be great to document it. I get a lot of questions from people about various stages in their beard growing journey and thought, let’s make 52 weekly episodes on growing a Yeard. By doing this we will effectively answer most of your questions and these videos will remain with us for many years to come.
So the videos will be in the form of a longer form video on YouTube which will be anywhere up to 10 minutes in length. We will also create a short and snappy IGTV video that will hopefully be under 2 minutes long. So we will produce in total 104 videos that will go live each and every Sunday that document this journey.
We are going to focus on the growth, any issues with the week, beard care, training the beard, routines and much much more. I’m excited for it and I hope you enjoy this awesome journey. Let us know if you want to join in with the fun too.
